Happy New Year
Diary of Events for 2008 will follow soon.
30 December 2007
Beach and Bacon Event
Update on the message below. High Tide is at 11:03am (don't rely on printed tables!), and forecast is for cloud but unlikely to rain. The wind is likely to be light SW/SSW. It should be good for diving, but if not there are bacon butties available for solace.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year
It has been a while since this website has been updated, partly due to that quiet Winter period, but mostly as I was involved in a RTA a while ago and am only now back to full health. I hope you are all well and have a great Christmas and a wet New Year, and I don't mean weather-wise!
Beach and Bacon Event
There is a Beach and Bacon morning at Babbacombe on 31 December, all welcome. If you want a bacon sandwich either bring some bacon and bread, or phone/email Andy or Janet and let us know you want to be included. A camping stove will be available.
High Tide is at 10:30am, and long range forecast is for fine weather, with cloud but no rain. The wind is likely to be light SW. It should be excellent for that end of year dive, if you're not too full from the bacon butties.
8 September 2007
Nitrox Course
Subaquaholics (Mike's Waterfront) is offering a Nitrox course to Bristol Scuba Club at the reduced rate of £90. This involves 1 theory evening at the shop on 26 September 2007, starting at around 6.30pm. There is a book to read, so you will need to act quickly unless you are a fast reader. Anyone interested should contact the shop, Andy Lewis or John Hammond.
Next Dive Event
There is a night dive and barbeque at Babbacombe on 29 September, all welcome.
Pictures from Portland
The pictures from the M2 are now available in the Gallery.

Brixham Weekend
The weather is likely to be excellent this weekend, so make the most of it and join us for a weekend's diving from the Breakwater Beach at Brixham. Two boats will be available, Ginger Tom and Flat Calm.
If you are looking for a campsite, you might like to try Upton Manor Farm, St Mary's Road, Brixham. Tel. 01803 882384, www.uptonmanorfarm.co.uk.

To prove that we did indeed see sharks there, see the video (warning - 12mb!).

Porthkerris Weekend
Anyone who has not paid John for the Cornwall weekend diving needs to pay as soon as possible or their place will go to the highest bidder! If you have not chosen a campsite, you might like to try Little Trevothan, Coverack, where we have stayed before.
Christmas Meals
Christmas will soon be upon us! It's time to dig deep and pay your deposits for the Christmas meal at Frank's in Keynsham. Money must be to Jeanette by 20 July 2007.
Next Dive Event
There was little take up for Portland this weekend so it has been replaced by some quiet diving at Brixham on Sunday, either from the beach or Ginger Tom, Steve's boat. Saturday is fine if a little windy, Sunday there is a chance of thunderstorms. High tide is late afternoon.
11 June 2007
The Weekend Diving
A group of us made for Portland on Friday afternoon and had an excellent couple of dives curtesy of Dorset Divers. Other excellent dives were had by John at Brixham and Mike Andrews and another group off Meadfoot to Shag Rock. All in all, an active and long diving weekend. Pictures to appear shortly.
Next Dive Event
The next arranged event is Lundy on 15 to 17 June 2007. There is one place available, if you are interested, contact John as soon as possible. Those going should make sure they are on the boat by 5.30pm Friday as the boat is leaving at 6pm promptly. Make sure you bring 4 cylinders each. Any difficulty getting tanks, contact John. 26 May 2007
Thurlestone Dive
Andy Lewis & Neil Hodges dived The Louis Sheid on Wednesday. High tide was 11.47 BST, so no early start. The weather was hot, with little wind and the visibility in the water was nearly 10m! Spotting the wreck from the surface after a 10 minute snorkel was easy as we could see her from the surface in 9m of water. Superb romp through the boilers, and down the propeller shaft, followed by a kelp and wrasse dominated return to the beach exploring many gullies on the way. Dive time was 1 hour 10 minutes.
For the second Dive we spent nearly an hour exploring the rocky edge around the other side of the beach, taking in many mating spider crab, large dogfish, the ubiquitous wrasse in many varieties and colours, anemonies in numbers and variety to rival babbacombe, and all in less than 7m of water.
See the gallery for those "proof" shots.
Other Dives
There are some pictures in the Gallery from various dives that took place during April. It will be apparent that visibility (below the water!) was not great during the whole of April.
There are 3 pictures of the seal seen at Babbacombe on 5 May 2007, curtesy of Josephine Andrews.
10 May 2007
Diary
Due to some pretty nasty weather, our Plymouth trip to HMS Scylla and James Eygan Layne on 12/13 May 2007 is officially cancelled.

29 April 2007
Diary
The next diving event is at Babbacombe for the night dive on 4/5 May 2007. Cuttlefish are about, and the anemone gardens are flourishing. See the Events page for more details.
Ernie and Steve will be taking divers out from Plymouth to HMS Syclla and James Eygan Layne on 12/13 May 2007. Basking sharks, though rarely seen, are known to be in the area at this time of year. See the Events page for more details.
The Cornwall diving this year (4/5 August 2007) will be at Porthkerris, not Porthhoustock as previously advertised. See Diary of Events for more details.
