HAPPY NEW YEAR!

New Year's Eve Diving - READ THIS UPDATE!!!
Speaking with Sunfish's skipper, Mike Weathersbee, he advises that the weather and visibility off Brixham is awful, and the wind is forecast to remain Easterly and Force 3, gusting to 5. We have therefore cancelled the Brixham dive. However, a few of us have decided that as Chesil Cove is sheltered from Easterly winds it should be calm. Anyone who wishes to join us at Chesil Cove is more than welcome, either for the diving or the social. We are likely to be in The Cove pub later in the morning!

NOTE: Some news items between October and December have been lost.

Babbacombe Dive
The wind is strong NE, but should be ok for Babbacombe on Saturday 1 Nov 08. Some of us are heading down early, 8am high tide, and you are welcome to join us. Text Andy on 0781 6520304 to be kept informed. We will not be staying for a night dive.

Babbacombe October 2008
I have been asked to organise a night dive and barbeque in early October but I need to know whether there is enough interest, so please text me on 07816520304, or email: if you are interested

Portland Diving 20-21 September 2008
Excellent diving weather and some really good visability. Unfortunately, many of the club were busy elsewhere (weddings and 50th birthdays!). Those that were there had good dives on the M2 and in Chesil Bay, where the visibility was better than 10m.

Plymouth Diving 28 & 29 June 2008
Superb dives on HMS Scylla, James Eagan Layne, and the harbour fort. We even saw dolphins of the prow of Ernie's boat. Wildlife included everything from John Dory's to conger eels, and a carpet of corals on the stern of HMS Scylla.

Pembroke Diving 2-3 August 2008
We have 11 divers signed up now, one place available if you are interested. The money must be paid upfront. We need at least 10 people at £45.00 per day's diving (2 dives). We get to decide where we want to go, weather permitting. Programme is likely to be Skomer and Skokholm islands, with a possibility of The Smalls.

For those of you going, there is camping available locally at Shipping Farm, Honeyborough, Milford Haven, Dyfed SA73 1JE, Tel: 01646 600286 (Camping & Caravan site); or B & B at the Ferry House Inn, Neyland, Tel. 01646 600270. A couple of divers have also booked in at Masterland Farm Campsite. The boat will leave from the Brunel Quay at the marina (signposted as you get near to it), time to be advised. Look for the PADI sign! Air is available (was £3.50 a fill at last visit). The map shows the boat location. Thanks to Aileen for finding much of this information in our old news pages.

Diving
A very lively discussion at the pool last night. There are a number of events in the offing, including the possibility of Ernie taking his boat out next weekend. Some diving from Lyme Regis/Brixham in June/July. Contact John or Ernie for latest information. We are trying to get hold of a boat for Pembroke, but so far we have had no response. The website will be updated on all these events when details are more definite.

Website
There have been one or two problems with the website lately, people changing email addresses, accounts falling overdue for payment, etc. All sorted out now so there should not be any further problems. If you are experiencing problems, contact:

Brixham 12 April 2008
Dived Brixham this morning with Andy and had an excellent dive. 52mins at 10m (well had to bury my hand in the sand !!) sea was flat but wind was strong. Hope it’s as good tomorrow.

Brixham 12/13 April 2008
There is diving at Brixham this weekend, not Babbacombe as prevously advertised. High tide is around 11:30am. There is likely to be a boat available. The weather is looking better for Saturday and Sunday, straight from the Met Office:

Sunny spells and scattered showers again, which could be heavy in places though coastal parts may see fewer showers and more sunshine. Gentle or moderate westerly winds. Temperatures around normal. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Substantial Website Update
No one pointed out that the dates on the website read April, when they should have read March. Doh!

There have been problems with various email addresses on the website lately, which has now been traced to a change by our hosting service. The contact email addresses throughout the site have now changed, so you may need to add them to your contact list and delete the old ones.

The website's main pages have been reviewed and all of them have been up-dated.

More Events
More events will be added as soon as the programme is available. There will definitely be a trip to Cornwall and 2 trips to Portland.

Easter Diving
Not a very auspicious start to the season, last weekend's diving was washed out and this weekend is not looking too good either. On a brighter note, Easter Monday is looking like it might actually be dry, and Trevor is putting his boat in the water in and around Portland harbour if anyone is interested in some easy boat diving. Contact: Trevor on 07879425489.

12 Litre Tank?
Does anyone have an old 12ltr Tank they do not require, 300 bar would be nice, out of test OK. Please contact me if you know of anyone who has one going spare.  Contact:Mike Andrews at
